Traveling with children in Europe should never be a chore. And during the holidays, it can be a real treat, with the gorgeous architecture of the cities lit to celebrate the season. With shows, museums and restaurants all ready to cater to the entire family, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
In Paris, Christmas trees are twinkling along the avenues, and through the windows of individual apartments. The rue Royale, the Avenue Montaigne and the Champs Elysées all have fabulous seasonal lights. Kids will adore the window displays along the Boulevard Hausman, including the Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps.
For a daytime or night time experience, ride the big wheel on Place de la Concorde for sweeping views over the City of Lights. |

MUSEUMS AND THE AQUARIUM |
The musical version of Zorro at the Folies Bergeres should be fun and easy understandable for everybody.
The Alexis Gruss circus is offering a show called Pampa, in the Bois de Boulogne, which blends equestrian art and music, and will leave you speechless.
The Mogador theater continues to show the Lion King and also has matinee performances, at 11.00 and 3pm of a musical version of Cinderella.
At the Opera House : The Nutcracker, a Christmas tradition where the dancing can be enjoyed regardless of language! |
Pompidou is always a good pick to see with children.
The Branly museum, dedicated to past and living civilizations is also very unique.
The Musée des Arts et Metiers is little known but really deserves a visit.
Check their website : www.arts-et-metiers.net
A visit to the aquarium of the Trocadero (Paris 16th district and in front of the Eiffel Tower might precede a lunch or a dinner at OZU.
The food served in is mostly Japanese oriented and some of the glass walls give on to the aquarium. |

Winter is traditionally the season for seafood. Sea food translates as fruits de mer (or fruits of the sea). A good seafood dish must absolutely be fresh and be served generously : different types of oysters, langoustines/lobster, crab and shrimps, sea urchins. |
 |
The quality of the bread and butter is paramount and the waiter will change your plate before it gets full of empty shells. There are several possibilities for the wine to be served with, this winter I enjoy specially a nice young Alsace Riesling.
My seafood restaurant recommendations are Garnier, rue Saint Lazarre in the Opera area, Prunier by the Arc of Triumph and The Dome on Boulevard du Montparnasse.
